Whether your Rhino Linings® operation is centered around vehicle protection or industrial applications (or both, as many dealers are) this project displays how our extensive dealer network makes use of Rhino Linings products outside of the traditional pickup truck beds.

Protecting Public Transportation

Kansas City, MO initiated a project to construct an extensive, longer-range, regionally integrated streetcar transit system to connect the Greater Kansas City. This public transit system is free to use by the public and currently covers 2 square miles of the downtown area, with plans to expand.

Industrial Coating Solutions, an authorized Rhino Linings applicator in Erie, IL, was called upon to coat the new streetcar system’s maintenance facility with Rhino Extreme™.

The walls of the facility were constructed from reinforced concrete in some locations and cinderblocks in other areas. The maintenance and wash bay areas of the facility required Rhino Extreme 11-50 FR to be applied to the flooring and walls. Safety was a major consideration in specifying this fire-resistant coating.

First, all surface walls and floors were fully cleaned and prepped. Rhino® 1500 waterborne epoxy primer was then applied and allowed to cure.

Lastly, Rhino Extreme 11-50 FR was spray-applied to the requested thickness of 125 mils. The material cured properly, looks great aesthetically and performs well.

The Kansas City Streetcars Authority is pleased with the look and performance of the Rhino Linings coating. Today, Kansas City residents and tourists alike are able to freely enjoy their new public transportation choice downtown, whose streetcars are all maintained in a facility protected by Rhino Linings products.
