The Rhino Pro membrane dryer, (pictured above) is a great asset to your arsenal against moisture. It also protects your shop’s air tools from damaging rust, wear and moisture leaking. Atomizing air should be less than 5% relative humidity. This is very important, as it will help create a beautiful textured surface with little or no anomalies.
As we know, moving air cools down. High demand air tools use lots of air which requires your compressor to continually re-pressure itself. Liquid water should be removed immediately before using the equipment. Your tools will reveal, very quickly, if the system is not functioning adequately. A clear indication of a malfunction is water dripping out of all tool’s mufflers. I’ve recently traveled to shops that have rusty moisture dripping from tools. How do we solve this?
One solution to removing excess water in the air line is to install a compressed air dryer at the discharge section of the air compressor. This should remove 99% of all water vapors and result in enough dry air for your tools and air chuck (gun) to deliver ventilation that allows your substrate to stay completely dry. In-line water separators are also helpful to your system when installed before the membrane dryer.
Always remember to replace or repair any leaking hoses. Air leaks, anywhere in the system dramatically increase a compressors workload as it continuously refreshes the air pressure. Keep in mind, hot compressors create a tremendous amount of moisture.
