Chemical Resistance
The coating project took only a day to complete. The aluminium oxide in the Hi-Chem™ 21-70 not only added slip resistance to the area, which made it safer for employee, but also made the coating more durable. The coating is holding up well to the tanker traffic and to the occasional hydrochloric acid leaks.
Containment
The entire project was completed in one week, which kept construction for the compressor station on schedule. The customer is happy with both the look and the performance of the lining system. In fact because of the success of the product and the quality of the application, Markwest Energy has awarded four additional containment projects to Mid-America Coating System.
Impact Abrasion
The entire job was completed by the applicator in two 18-hour days. The air cyclone units are fully operational, and the manufacturer is happy with both the look and the performance of the coating. There has been no downtime needed for repairs since the coating was installed.
Mining – Aggregates
The prep and application was completed in a single day and the hydrosizer was back in operation with minimal downtime. The plant successfully eliminated their corrosion problem and significantly reduced their equipment replacement and repair expenses, as well as their maintenance cycle downtime.
Transportation
The job was completed over a three day period using a 1/4” fine texture atomizer. The extremely fast cure time of Rhino Tuff Stuff, allowed easy application to vertical and overhead surfaces. The company was very happy with the cab and intends, over the coming months, to have the same work carried out on the balance of their fleet of Komatsu dump trucks.
Tanks
The entire project took just one day to complete, thereby limiting impact to the plant’s operation. Relining the tank in place was much cheaper than replacing it, and the customer has been happy with the performance of the tank lining. It has held up well to the stresses caused by the manufacturing process.
Waterproofing
Preparation of the 516 sq. ft. (48 m2) area and installation of Rhino Extreme™ 11-50 was completed in just two days, allowing other tradesmen and suppliers to begin and complete their work ahead of schedule. This was a key reason that the project was completed on schedule.
