Rhino Linings’ story started with bringing the first spray-on bedliner to the United States, and today, the company is still known for providing the world’s #1 brand for spray-on bedliners. For more than 36 years, Rhino Linings has worked to bring durable, weather, abrasion, impact, and chemical-resistant protective coatings across automotive, flooring, foam, and industrial to customers across the globe.
As an American company, we know how important it is to continue supporting the local economy. All our products are American-made, with production facilities in San Diego, CA, Greenville, TX, and Richmond, MO. Founders Story
In 1988, Russell Lewis forever changed the automotive world by introducing America’s first spray-on truck bedliner. Originally from South Africa, Lewis had a vision: to apply the heavy-duty protective lining to the load areas of pickup truck-beds. With this bold idea, Rhino Linings was born and spray on Bedliners evolved .
What started as an innovative use of spray on polyurethane linings quickly evolved into a game-changing solution for truck owners. Lewis developed a proprietary two-part, solvent-free, rubber-like coating that could be sprayed on to a specific thickness, creating a virtually impenetrable surface. Using specialized plural component spray equipment, the coating bonded instantly upon application—forming a durable, long-lasting barrier against impact, abrasion, rust, and corrosion.
The result? A rugged, high-performance bedliner that became the gold standard in the industry.
Under Lewis’s leadership, Rhino Linings Corporation became more than just a truck accessory—it became a trusted name in protective coatings technology.
Today, the company has produced materials to spray on several million truck beds and remains one of the top-rated sprayed-on bedliner companies in the world . The company is now a leading chemical manufacturer specializing in advanced formulations—including polyurethane, polyurea, epoxy, and polyaspartic coatings. These products are trusted by professionals across a variety of industries, from construction and manufacturing to defense and infrastructure.

About Rhino Today
In 2005, Pierre Gagnon assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Rhino Linings Corporation, following a thoughtful succession process initiated by founder Russell Lewis. Wanting to shift from day-to-day operations to a more strategic role, Lewis carefully evaluated several candidates before selecting Gagnon for his proven leadership and record of success as President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America. During his tenure there, Gagnon guided the company through a major turnaround, achieving five consecutive years of record growth in sales, profits, and brand visibility.
To ensure a smooth transition, Lewis implemented a structured three-month handover in which operational authority was gradually transferred to Gagnon, while strategic collaboration continued through weekly meetings. This process not only secured continuity but also positioned Rhino Linings for its next stage of growth.
Today, under Gagnon’s leadership, Rhino Linings has expanded into a global enterprise of more than 100 employees supporting consumers and businesses worldwide. The company’s Global Applicator Network now includes over 2,000 independently owned and operated businesses across nearly 80 countries, supported by distribution centers throughout North America, South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific.
