San Diego, Calif. (Aug. 16, 2013) Rhino Linings Corporation, a global leader in protective coatings, announces the release of Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT, a 100% solids (Zero VOC) pure polyurea lining system specifically formulated for geotextile fabric applications.
Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT has a high humidity tolerance, and provides superior adhesion to a variety of substrates. Used in combination with geotextile, it has 3% or less shrinkage when applied at 40 mil passes or greater, excellent wetting properties and a longer tack-free time than many competitive polyurea coatings.
These features are vital when creating a secondary containment area with multiple protrusions where the greatest potential for leaks exists. Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT has been field-tested and approved by customers who serve the oil and gas industry in climates ranging from desert heat to Arctic cold.
"Secondary containment for the oil and gas industry is a perfect application for Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT," said Pierre Gagnon, CEO and president of Rhino Linings Corporation. "Businesses operating in this industry count on containment systems that are easy to install, low maintenance and can be customized to meet job requirements. We are able to meet those needs with Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT."
The system creates a seamless, impermeable lining that stands up to both the climate and operational challenges unique to the oil and gas drilling industry. Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT can be used in a wide variety of weather conditions, from -20 to 130° F (-29 to 54° C). It is easily applied with high pressure (1:1 mix ratio) spray equipment, allowing for a quick return to service, and it meets the stringent regulatory guidance for containment in the oil and gas industry.
Rhino Linings will be showcasing Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT at two upcoming oil and gas industry trade shows, the Bakken Oil Workers and Oil Services Expo Aug. 20-22 in Minot, ND; and the DUG Eagle Ford Conference Sept. 17-19 in San Antonio, TX.
Rhino Linings also offers Rhino Adhesion Promoter specifically formulated to work with Rhino Extreme lining system. The product replaces solvent wipes and contains epoxy-based adhesion promoters that aid in adhesion and help seam together sprayed elastomeric surfaces. Using Rhino Adhesion Promoter along with Rhino Extreme lining systems can improve turnaround time and eliminate the need for a primer in some applications.
Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT is 100% solids with no VOCs or coal tar, and it has excellent self-leveling properties. The thickness of the lining will vary depending on the application, typically from 40 mils up to any specified thickness in a single coat. It is available in black, gray, tan or any specified color.
The system is applied in a single coat, multi-pass application and is tack-free within 15-20 seconds. The cured lining has a 2800-3200 psi tensile strength, 500-600 pli tear resistance and 400-500% elongation. Rhino Extreme 11-50 GT has excellent resistance to abrasion, impact, chemicals and corrosion for a variety of industrial applications.
